The Frenchman made a positive start to the new stage of his career
Antoine Griezmann made his debut in a Barcelona shirt in a 2-1 friendly loss to Chelsea in Japan.
“I’m happy to start having the first minutes with this shirt and with desire to play more, to keep playing, training, and improve,” he said.
“Despite being a special day, it was not very pleasant because of the defeat, but better matches will come. We have time to improve.”
Griezmann said he was still learning to adapt to the style of play, saying “it’s a new tactic for me to learn, and to make movements to help my teammates.”
However, there was a connection already with Ousmane Dembélé: “We train together with the national team, and now we spend more time together. We have more time to improve our partnership.”
Manager Ernesto Valverde asked him for “depth and playing first-touch football” he says. Griezmann noted he has no preferred position, except that he wants to be on the pitch and improve.
The Frenchman also said he was looking forward to interacting with Lionel Messi on a day-to-day basis.
