The president says Barcelona B players can step up
Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu says the club have no plans to make any signings when the transfer window reopens in January.
The club have been linked with plenty of players since the close of the summer window and particularly following injuries to Samuel Umtiti and Thomas Vermaelen.
However, Bartomeu says the club won’t sign anyone, unless there is a specific request from the coaching staff.
“We don’t plan to sign anyone in January, unless the coaches ask for someone before then,” he said.
“It’s a smaller squad because we have B team players who can make the first team. Our objective is that players from La Masia make the first team.”

Bartomeu’s words are in stark contrast to comments he made recently when he said the club were “on the lookout” for a centre-back.
