Barcelona set for busy January transfer window - report

There could be several ins and outs

Barcelona are reportedly gearing up for a busy time in the January transfer window, according to reports in Spain.

The Spanish champions want to bring in a centre-back, after injuries to Thomas Vermaelen and Samuel Umtiti, and a left-back to help out Jordi Alba.

The club have already been linked with a range of defenders including Toby Alderweireld, Dayot Upamecano, Dejan Lovren and Branislav Ivanovic. Matthijs de Ligt seems the priority but that move will have to wait until the summer.

There could be a few outgoings too. There’s a lingering sense that Jasper Cillessen is far too good a goalkeeper to be on the bench and could be tempted away. Munir’s future is also the subject of speculation.

There’s a also several players who are really struggling for game time this season and could seek a loan such as Rafinha and Denis Suarez.

And then there’s Paco Alcacer. The striker is banging the goals in for Borussia Dortmund, and the Bundesliga side have the option to sign him permanently. With Luis Suarez set to turn 32 in January, a move for a forward is starting to become a priority.
