“Sometimes we can’t deny reality... I don’t know what will happen”
Javier Mascherano has been the subject of intense speculation. Rumors in the local media say that the player is going to leave FC Barcelona in the winter transfer window. Now, we get some direct comments on the subject straight from the player himself, in an interview with TyCSports:
I spoke with the club a long time ago about the situation, it’s the reality that I have to live with. It’s no one’s fault, it’s reality’s fault. And we will try to get to a conclusion that will be good for everyone, for the club and for me. If there’s something that I’m clear on, that in this situation, the thing I want most, is to be able to solve it in private, and not all this that has been created in the media. Sincerely, I don’t want it to happen through the media. This is a situation I don’t like. I want to hash it out with the club in private. But the situation is there. Sometimes we can’t deny reality. And the reality here is that I’ve lost playing time, it’s something we have to resolve, in a private way. Thank God I have a good relationship with the board. Remember, it’s the same board that brought me from Liverpool. We’ll try to fix it in the best way.
Mascherano admitted he is unsure of whether he will move clubs to remain in his best fitness for Argentina when the FIFA World Cup starts in Russia next year:
I don’t know what’s going to happen. I don’t believe that I have to feed the media game. I’m not going to get into that, I don’t like it. Neither the club nor I deserve it.
