It’s nearly January and the gossip is heating up!
Coutinho to cost €130m-€150m
Today’s rumors start with Philippe Coutinho with Sport simply refusing to give up on this one and claiming Liverpool are now willing to sell. Apparently.
The story is of ‘Operation Coutinho’ and that Barca will offer Liverpool €130m in January but might have to go all the way up to €150m.
However, there is a problem of wages, the Brazilian would earn €14m a season which means Barca would need to ditch three players to afford him, with Arda Turan top of the list.
Or is it more like €145m?
Mundo Deportivo are at it too, although the number they have plucked out of the air for Coutinho is €145m.
Apparently that is the new price that Liverpool have demanded and Barca are ready to fight for Coutinho.
Although they know he won’t be able to play in the Champions League, they feel he can help the club win the title and give Andres Iniesta a break.
Andres Gomes will stay, for now
Over in Portugal the word is that Andre Gomes is going nowhere and will stay at Barcelona and fight for his place, so say A Bola.
Apparently the midfielder does have offers and has even been mooted as being part of a deal to land Mesut Ozil, but is set to stay at Camp Nou at least until summer.
Turan to be included in Ozil deal
In England the Daily Star have a great big EXCLUSIVE that they seem very excited about, and claim Barca will use Arda Turan to tempt Arsenal into selling Mesut Ozil.
Arsene Wenger has said Ozil will not leave in January unless “something unbelievable” happens but then maybe offering Turan for Ozil is so incredible he might fall for it.
Speaking of incredible, Ozil is apparently demanding £350,000-a-week which Arsenal don’t want to pay and Barcelona don’t fancy much either.
Barca in contact with Arthur
And finally today, we end with news that Barcelona have made contact with Gremio midfielder Arthur, which is really pretty exciting.
According to Sport, Robert Fernandez went to watch him in action and afterwards spoke with the player’s representatives.
However, Arthur is already in demand and Barca may have to move quick to snap him up, his release clause stands at €50m.
