The plot thickens
Gremio midfielder Arthur has come under the spotlight in the past few days after a photograph of the 21-year-old in a Barcelona shirt was leaked.
Barca have been linked with the young Brazilian for a few weeks now, with Robert Fernandez reportedly having flown to south America on a scouting mission.
A photo of Arthur in a Barca shirt with one of the club’s scouts Andre Cury, was leaked, which understandably angered Gremio and may land Barca in trouble.

Gremio vice-president Odorico Roman has confirmed Arthur has a €50 million release clause and that the club are aware of interest not only from Barca but other clubs too.
"We have information that Inter, Atletico Madrid and Barcelona are interested in the player and have had representatives watching our games," he said.
"There is a €50m release clause, but if a club really wanted to sign him, they'd have to send us a proposal. We would evaluate and decide whether to accept or not.
"Our intention is to keep Arthur with us for a little while longer. We think he can remain for another one or two seasons and give a big contribution to our cause."

So what does Arthur make of it all? Well he’s posted a message on his Instagram account, and this is what he’s had to say.
"From a start to the year still filled with doubt to a magical ending. Great campaigns in the Brazilian league and the Brazilian cup and the redemption with the unforgettable Copa Libertadores title. I want to thank from the bottom of my heart everyone who supported me throughout 2017. The strength of your words gave me even more determination.
“Unfortunately, due to an injury, I will not be physically on the pitch in the Club World Cup. You can be sure that my heart and all my positive energy will be with this family that is our squad. Grêmio is my team. I love and respect this institution that helps me every days since I was 14 years old. I will never leave the club through the back door. This is my home. We will go together for more. Always!”

Arthur is one of the most exciting young talents in Brazil at the moment and looks to be a perfect fit for Barca, but whether a deal can still be done after all this, remains to be seen.
