Impasse Continues Regarding Copa Del Rey Final Stadium; Santiago Bernabéu Now Completely off the Table

Still nothing new regarding the site of this year's Copa del Rey final, to be contested in May 30th between Barcelona and Athletic Bilbao. Both teams had been lobbying to play the ultimate game at Santiago Bernabéu, Real Madrid's home, but that option is no longer available after the Blancos vehemently refused to concede their stadium to the club's biggest football and political rivals.

With Bernabéu now off the table, there's a huge disagreement between all three parties involved (Barça, Bilbao and the Spanish Football Federation) on the official home of the Spanish Cup title-decider. Barça is still pushing for it to be in Valencia, while Athletic wants it to be in Sevilla. The Spanish Federation doesn't have a favorite option, so they're not favoring any of the teams just for the sake of showing some authority.

There's still a narrow possibility that Camp Nou will be the site, with a 50-50 share of the tickets for the teams. Unsurprisingly, Bilbao is not against the option, since the financial outcome of doing it at a giant venue is tremendous for the club, especially with an equal share of the profit with the Blaugrana, after the Spanish Federation takes its piece of the cake.

San Mamés, Athletic's home, is the last resort if nothing works out. The Federation promises an official decision for tomorrow or Friday.
