The Nerazzurri vice-president says the striker’s happy at the club

Inter Milan vice-president Javier Zanetti is hoping Lautaro Martinez stays at the club “for a long time” despite speculation linking him with a move away from the San Siro.

Speculation has claimed Lautaro is one of Barcelona’s top targets ahead of the summer transfer market, while Real Madrid and Chelsea have also been linked.

Zanetti has been talking about the 22-year-old and made it clear he is hopeful of hanging on to the forward

“I am enormously pleased to be talking about Lautaro. We signed him when he was the most promising player in Argentine football,” he said.

”Speaking to Diego Milito we saw that he could become a great player. Now he is only 22 and a fixture in the Argentina team.

”I watch him train every week in Appiano with his team-mates. He looks happy to me and I hope he stays a long time. As well as the other lads who have grown a lot, he represents a great asset for our club.”

Martinez reportedly has a €111m release clause in his contract, but reports suggest Barca don’t want to pay that and will try to include players in any potential deal instead.
