Barcelona ask fans for ‘maximum support’ ahead of Copa del Rey final

The board of directors have issued a statement

Barcelona’s board of directors met on Monday and issued a statement where they say they share in the disappointment of the club’s Champions League exit and ask for “maximum support” ahead of the Copa del Rey final.

The club’s 4-0 thrashing by Liverpool at Anfield has overshadowed the club’s triumph in La Liga and saw a crowd of just 57,088 turn up for Sunday’s win over Getafe.

Barcelona play their final La Liga game of the season against Eibar on Saturday before facing Valencia in the Copa del Rey final a week later, and the board have asked supporters to get fully behind the team.

“The Board of Directors shares the disappointment of the Barça players for the elimination of the first team in the Champions League.

“The Board of Directors wishes to express its gratitude to the partners, supporters and supporters who moved to Liverpool to take the team together. On the other hand, they also wishes to extend this gratitude to all those members and fans who were at the Camp Nou on Sunday to support the team in the league game against Getafe CF.

“The Board of Directors has decided that now all the Club’s efforts must be concentrated in the preparation and achievement of the Copa del Rey final on May 25. In this sense, the Board requests the maximum support to the team by the partners, supporters and supporters, in order to achieve this challenge.”

Barcelona and Valencia meet in the Copa del Rey final at Real Betis’ Benito Villamarín Stadium on May 25.

The two sides have drawn twice in La Liga this season. They shared a 1-1 in Valencia in October and then Barca came back from 2-0 down to draw 2-2 at the Camp Nou in February.
