Marcelino tells Valencia how to cope with Messi

Valencia boss Marcelino is keying up to face Barcelona and Lionel Messi in the Copa del Rey final. There’s a plethora to prepare for when it comes to readying to play Barcelona, and one of the key pieces to that is Lionel Messi.

Marcelino was very candid about Messi’s role in the game plan, as the Barcelona captain has scored three goals in the last two matchups against Valencia.

“The key is giving Messi little to do in the game,” Marcelino said. “The problem is that although he appears sparingly, his actions have a decisive influence.”

Whatever the result of the Copa del Rey final, Marcelino and Valencia will certainly have done all they can do provide a solid defensive structure against Lionel’s Barcelona.
