Our road to the Final goes through Old Trafford. And then probably Anfield. OH MY GOD.
The draw for the 2019 Champions League quarterfinals was made on Friday in Switzerland to define the path to the Final, and Barcelona are looking at a VERY tough road to Madrid.
The Blaugrana have been chosen to face Manchester United in the Last Eight, and if they go through they will face the winner of Liverpool vs FC Porto in the semifinal. In both ties, Barça will play the second leg away from home, which means their road to Madrid includes decisive trips to Anfield and Old Trafford.
United advanced to the quarterfinals thanks to a miracle comeback against PSG, including a 3-1 win in the second leg without eight starters and their best player in Paul Pogba. They have improved tremendously since sacking José Mourinho and hiring Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as interim manager. They attack more, use their pace more on the counter and have a stronger defense.
Facing United in the Champions League brings great memories for Barça, since it was against the Red Devils that the Blaugrana won two of their last three European titles, including the memorable 2011 Final at Wembley, maybe the greatest team performance in the history of the game.
These are the full results of the draw:
