The youngster put in an impressive cameo
Barcelona starlet Riqui Puig starred as Catalonia beat Venezuela 2-1 in a friendly at Girona’s Montilivi Stadium on Monday.
The hosts ran out 2-1 winners against a Venezuela side fresh from beating Lionel Messi’s Argentina 3-1 in Friday.
Puig did not start the game but he came on as a substitute, played 38 minutes and basically set up Catalonia’s first goal.
A sumptuous pre-assist from Riqui Puig (19) here, while playing for Catalonia.

Excellent vision and perfect weighting on the ball that breaks Venezuela's defensive line.
He'd been on the pitch less than two minutes. https://t.co/wowS8UFDtk
Bojan and Javi Puado scored the goals for Catalonia with Gerard Pique, Marc Bartra, Bojan and Aleix Vidal all starting the friendly. Marc Cucurella, Marc Cardona, Martin Montoya, Marc Muniesa all started on the bench.

Pique went close to scoring with a free-kick, before being replaced by Puig in the second half.
Riqui replacing Pique for Catalonia. Quite symbolic, eh! The smile on Geri’s face is great. He knows. pic.twitter.com/UldAGVu8nQ

Puig took his chance to impress by playing a key role in the opening goal. Can we expect to see him in the first team squad next season?
