The leaders look to stay unbeaten against a relegation candidate
La Liga leaders Barcelona are back in action tonight with an important trip to the Canary Islands to face Las Palmas. The Blaugrana are currently four points ahead of Atlético Madrid and need a win in this one before a GIANT match against Atlético at Camp Nou on Sunday. That game could decide the league, but it won’t if Barça can’t get the job done against Las Palmas.
On paper this looks like a very, very, very, very, very easy night. Las Palmas have only 19 points in 25 games and are part of a tough relegation battle. They’ve also conceded 52 goals this season and are not even close to the team that became one of the most entertaining in La Liga over the last two seasons.
But this won’t be easy. Every team plays at their best when facing Barça, and Las Palmas still have some pretty good players, including former Barça midfielder Alen Halilovic. Ernesto Valverde is also expected to rotate his squad ahead of the clash with Atlético, so a weaker Barça team could give them a tough time.
But Lionel Messi will be playing, and that’s enough to make Barça favorites to win. It’s also enough to make you watch this game, right? Right? Right?
