We will never forget him!
Former FC Barcelona and Brazil legend Ronaldinho has formally announced his retirement, his brother (who is also his agent) Roberto Assis confirmed. The player had been without a club since 2015, but had not formally announced his goodbye.
The player plans to play friendly matches as his final swan song from the playing fields, Assis said, which could include one final match at Camp Nou after this summer’s FIFA World Cup.
The player was last with a club in 2015, when he ended his brief stint with Fluminense under mutual consent. He had participated in friendlies and exhibition matches since.
Ronaldinho began his career at Grêmio, before moving to Paris Saint-Germain. He spent two years in France before Barça scooped him up. It was with the Catalans when the Brazilian enjoyed his peak years, winning La Liga twice and the UEFA Champions League once. He also won a Ballon d’Or and two FIFA World Player of the Year awards.
He spent three years at AC Milan before returning to the other side of the hemisphere, spending time with Brazilian clubs Flamengo and Atlético Mineiro, and Mexican side Querétaro, before joining his final club.
With the Brazilian national team, he won the Copa América in 1999, the FIFA World Cup in 2002, and the Confederations Cup in 2005.
