The first league match of 2018 gives Barça a chance to get one step closer to the title
Welcome back, La Liga! The Spanish league has returned this weekend, and 2018 starts with a tough game for the league leaders.
Barcelona welcome Levante to Camp Nou, and although the visitors are in 16th place and in poor form in the last several weeks, they’re filled with young talent and have a good defense that can cause problems to any team.
For the Blaugrana, this is a chance to take one more step towards another league title. Barça are currently six points ahead of Atlético Madrid and could have a nine-point lead with 20 matches to go if they beat Levante, and nine points with 20 games left is a really tough lead to overcome.
This will also be the first time that Lionel Messi, Luis Suárez and Andrés Iniesta play this season after they were rested for the Copa del Rey game in midweek, and the three superstars will surely be hungry for a winning start to the new year.
New signing Philippe Coutinho isn’t ready to make his debut just yet, but Ousmane Dembélé is available and will be involved once again. This will be a tough game for Barça, but it’ll be fun as well. You can’t miss it.
