The forward finally put one in the net - though it was a friendly.
After 743 minutes, Paco Alcácer finally got his first goal for FC Barcelona. Of course, it was only in a friendly and it was against Al Ahli in Qatar. But still, a goal’s a goal when you’re in such a slump.
The player has slowly been gaining in confidence since his switch from Valencia over the summer. Alcácer finished his first goal with a typical striker’s finished, a well-placed header.
The team looked happy for him, and Alcácer himself admitted to being relieved to get that particular monkey off his back, at least to an extent.
"Sometimes you feel obsessed, but if my teammates and coaches who see me work every day are satisfied, I was calm. I was not going to give up, and now my work has been rewarded."
While the goal may build a little confidence in the forward, it’s worth remembering that this was after all, just a friendly.
Alcácer needs to work a lot harder if he wants to break his duck when it comes to official games.
