Remember when everyone had that hilarious idea that Lionel Messi would struggle on cold, wet night in Stoke? Well, former Barcelona midfielder Mark Hughes clearly took umbrage to that idea and has apparently made it his mission to disprove the notion by successfully signing some of Messi's evidently less talented Blaugrana colleagues. We've seen Bojan Krkic, Marc Muniesa and now Ibrahim Afellay join the ranks at the Britannia Stadium; now Hughes has set his sights on securing one more Barcelona star, Adama Traore.
Speaking at today's pre-match press conference ahead of Stoke's Premier League opener against Liverpool FC, Hughes was asked about the reported links to Adama and here's what he had to say:
MH on Adama Traore: He is somebody we have had discussions with, but there has been no progress on that front yet. #scfc

Of course, Hughes will face stiff competition for Adama's signature. The talented Spanish winger has been linked with a multitude of Premier League clubs since Barcelona B's demotion to the Segunda B was confirmed earlier this month, and if he is leaving on a permanent basis, one must assume that he would opt for a move to somewhere like Liverpool, where his prospects might be brighter.
However, if we're talking about a temporary switch, this one might actually be in the best interest of all parties; Adama could immediately challenge for a first-team berth at Stoke and then return to Catalunya with a year of experience under his belt.
It's probably a long shot, but what do we think? Adama to...Stoke?
