The great night at Camp Nou that ended with a 3-0 win for Barcelona over AS Roma in the Joan Gamper Trophy had only one bad piece of news.
Full-back Jordi Alba, one of the key members of the Blaugrana defense, was forced out of the game due to an injury. He asked to be replaced by coach Luis Enrique just 30 minutes after coming onto the pitch at halftime. Barça B youngster Alen Halilovic took his place, and Alba went straight to the locker room.
After further testing, the Spanish international was diagnosed with a hamstring strain, and he's expected be out for at least 10-15 days, according to the first report by the Barcelona medical services. Because of the timetable, it's safe to say Alba is out of the first official match of the season, the UEFA Super Cup, next Tuesday against Sevilla.
The left-back joins a growing list of injured players. Douglas Pereira, Arda Turan and Adriano Correia are all nursing injuries, but none is expected to be out for too long, except for Douglas, who is only expected to return in October.
