Barcelona will retain Nélson Semedo, unless...

...someone pays his release clause

Nélson Semedo is considering leaving FC Barcelona to get more playing time, according to Diario MARCA. The report states that he has offers from Serie A and the Premier League to leave, valued around 35 million euro. During the season, Semedo has played a good amount but less than Sergi Roberto, who is the de facto starter at right-back.

MARCA says that Barcelona need to sell players to fund the captures of Matthijs de Ligt and Antoine Griezmann and, while they are pleased with Semedo, no player aside from Lionel Messi is truly non-transferable.

Mundo Deportivo reports that Barça do not want to sell the player. To any team looking to buy him, they will simply point to his release clause, which is valued at 100 million. Pay up or you won’t get him.

His agent has reportedly not spoken to the team about a transfer.

One thing that could be an argument for him leaving, though, is the progress of Moussa Wagué. The Senegalese international has done well in La Liga and could become the backup next season, with Roberto remaining the starter.
