The Brazilian scored a screamer against Manchester United
Philippe Coutinho had a nice day against Manchester United this week. The Brazilian scored one of his classic outside the box curling masterpieces to put Barcelona ahead 3-0 against United. The goal sealed the deal and sent Barcelona to the Champions League semi-finals.
Even more important than that was the fact that this was the Coutinho that Barcelona bought from Liverpool. The fearless midfielder who scored many of these goals in England has struggled to find his footing in Barcelona, this goal and celebration was a step towards old form.
His teammates rushed to defend Coutinho’s celebration after the match, Clement Lenglet and Sergio Busquets backed the Brazilian’s passion and “balls”.
“I do not care about the celebration, what matters to me is the goal. Coutinho is a great player, he has balls,” said Lenglet.
Busquets added: “I did not see anything. I know he celebrated with anger, with desire.
”It was an important goal for him after the criticism he has received. He is a world-class player.”
The win means Barcelona look set to face Coutinho’s former side Liverpool in the semi-finals of the Champions League.
