Bartomeu: Barca don’t need any more signings

The president has had his say

Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu spoke about the upcoming season on Wednesday and had some pretty interesting comments.

After bringing in Clement Lenglet, Arthur, Arturo Vidal and Malcom, Bartomeu said the club aren’t really in need of any more additions.

“As you all know, the transfer window shuts on the 31st August and we’re keeping an eye on the market, but there’s no immediate need to sign anyone.

“We’re satisfied with our business in this window, both with the arrivals and departures, and I want to thank the people who are often forgotten about: our CEO, Oscar Grau, the managing director, Pep Segura, our director of football Eric Abidal and his assistant, Ramon Planes.”

He also talked about the club’s young players with Riqui Puig and Juan Miranda having taken part in the club’s pre-season tour and hoping for a first team chance this season.

“There are also young players like [Carles] Alena coming into the first team, with others starting to shine too, like [Juan] Miranda, Riqui Puig and Abel Ruiz,” he said.

“With the training we give them, I’m sure they’ll reach the first team soon. There are some things we don’t give up, like our style and football development.

“They are part of the team. La Masia is working and I’d invite anyone who has doubts to visit the training centre and Estadio Johan Cruyff.”

We should get to see all of Barcelona’s new signings and some of the youngsters tonight when they face Boca Juniors for the Joan Gamper Trophy.
