Barça will pay his release clause
Clément Lenglet will be an FC Barcelona player tomorrow, or so say several journalists.
Edu Polo and Sergi Solé of Mundo Deportivo say that Barça are finishing up the paperwork to pay his release clause after negotiations with his club, Sevilla, stalled.
The Catalans just need to certify the payment in front of the league to make the move official and be able to announce it. The clause asks for 35 million euros to allow the French defender a move. He is expected to leave Sevilla’s pre-season and travel to Barcelona soon.
Another journalist, Marcos López, who sometimes appears on Cadena COPE, said that Sevilla has been informed that Barcelona has deposited the money and that Lenglet will be a blaugrana.
Previously, Barcelona sought to strike a deal with Sevilla, so as to avoid having to pay the release clause directly, which could be beneficial for both sides. But Sevilla refused the terms, and now Barça have to resort to paying the clause.
