It’s all over for the coach after the World Cup
Argentina confirmed on Sunday that they have parted company with manager Jorge Sampaoli after a chaotic World Cup campaign.
La Albiceleste found it tough going in Russia and only secured qualification to the knockout phase with a victory over Nigeria in their final match.
They went on to face eventual winners France in the last 16, where they were knocked out after losing an exciting game 4-3.
It now turns out that the match was Sampaoli’s last in charge of the national team.

The hunt will now begin for a new manager to take over Argentina. We’ve not heard from Lionel Messi since his exit from the World Cup so can only presume he will be carrying on his international career.
Messi will be 35 by the time the next World Cup in Qatar swings around, so it’s entirely possible he may still be playing international football.
