Las Palmas coach Paco Jemez has given his verdict on referee Mateu Lahoz after his side drew 1-1 with Barcelona on Thursday night.
Lionel Messi opened the scoring for the visitors but there was controversy just before the break as goalkeeper Leandro Chichizola appeared to handle the ball outside his box.
The referee did not penalise the goalkeeper and Jonathan Calleri then levelled for Las Palmas in the second half from the penalty spot after Lucas Digne appeared to handle the ball, although it did not look intentional.
Jemez gave his verdict on the match and says he felt there were two handballs. He also discussed the referee in more detail.
“The feeling I have is that both are hand balls. Later, we can interpret if they are involuntary or not. I saw two hand balls,” he said,
“I like Mateu, with his little quirks... I like the manner in which he referees. It’s my opinion, it doesn’t mean that I like one performance.
“I have always had admiration because to me he seems different. On occassion, you have to interpret what he whistled because sometimes only he knows but I like him.”

Mateu’s performance will be scrutinised after a couple of really controversial decisions. Barcelona, meanwhile, have seen their lead at the top of La Liga cut to five points.
