In this column, Xoel Càrdenas gives you his take on FC Barcelona's 4-0 win over Real Sociedad at the Camp Nou on Saturday evening. Xoel talks the win, Dani Alves' big match, and the trio of Leo Messi, Luis Suarez and Neymar making more magic.
Luis Suarez had the first chance at goal in the third minute, as a Neymar through ball found Luis heading towards goal, but La Real goalkeeper Geronimo Rulli was there to make the save. Ivan Rakitic was wrongly called offside just a few minutes later. Rulli had to come out to deny a Neymar run toward net in the 11th minute. Andres Iniesta hit the post on a header in the 13th minute. Claudio Bravo made a nice grab on a La Real cross into the box in the 18th minute. Neymar opened the scoring in the 22nd minute, as a great low cross into the box by Dani Alves found his countryman who slammed it into the back of the net. Great setup by Lionel Messi who found Dani to start the play.

Suarez picked up the second Barcelona goal in the 41st minute, as another Alves cross into the box found Luis, who sent a bullet volley past Rulli and into the back of the net. Golazo de Luisito!

Neymar made it 3-0 in the 53rd minute, as an Iniesta through ball found Jeremy Mathieu on the left who then crossed it into the box and Neymar tapped it in for his second goal.

Messi nearly had a goal in the 60th minute, but his volley went straight into the arms of Rulli. Late in the match, Bravo made a nice save on a La Real shot on goal, then a minute later, Messi's shot at goal hit the crossbar. In stoppage time, Messi got his goal thanks to an assist from Neymar and setup by Suarez.

FT: FC Barcelona 4-0 Real Sociedad
Xoel's Take
Overall, it was a solid match for Barcelona, minus the last 15 minutes of the match when FCB allowed La Real to gain possession.
The Barcelona defense tends to slip up, at times, but doesn't break. Barça has only allowed one goal in its last seven matches, with the lone goal allowed being Edin Dzeko's last second goal for AS Roma in the 6-1 Barcelona win Champions League play last week.
Sergio Busquets continues to show why he's the best CDM in the world. Via Barca Numbers: In the last six matches, Busquets has won back 47 balls, has made 20 successful tackles and has only caused five fouls. Andrés Iniesta continues to grow his legacy as one of the greatest midfielders of all time — not just this era. For me, I thought it was a good move by Luis Enrique to bring on Adriano for Alves because as we get further into the season, rotations will be more needed, and having Adriano — being the utility player that he is — with some playing time may come in handy later on in the season.
What a performance by the Barcelona fullbacks against La Real. Jeremy Mathieu picked up an assist. My man of the match was Dani Alves. The Brazilian has been on fire lately, and against La Real, he continued his good form. Two assists for Dani and fine defending on the night. If Dani continues his solid play, it will allow Lucho to keep Sergi Roberto at midfield and allow Aleix Vidal to play RW in January.

Once again, MSN did damage to another club. I can't recall a trio of players doing this in world football. Just when one thinks they are about to have an off night or they're about to cool down, MSN gets hot and goals for four or five goals. It's not just that all three are great players, it's that all three can take over a match and end the opponent's night. Other clubs are lucky if they have one player who can do this occasionally; Barcelona has three players who take over matches every single game.
It's not just that MSN are talented and great, it's that their chemistry on and off the pitch is so great that makes them unstoppable. They are not just teammates, they are great friends who thanks to unselfishness; understanding and accepting their roles; teamwork; and desire to make the team better, has made MSN and Barcelona an unstoppable, historic force.
We know Messi will win his fifth Ballon d'Or in January. It's unlikely MSN will be the top three finalists for the FIFA Ballon d'Or, which is a shame and a disgrace because we all know they deserve it. I doubt any of them will feel bad about it because for them, it's more about team trophies than individual awards.
MSN: made of football sugar, spice and everything nice.

Lastly, Leo Messi played in his 600th career match. What better way to celebrate in front of your family than scoring a goal in a win to continue pace atop the La Liga table. #Messi600
