Competing Theories As Barcelona Seek Neymar Replacement: Dybala, Mbappe, Dembele
Barcelona still have not tied any one of them down, it seems
It’s happening. Neymar is leaving for Paris Saint-Germain. Barcelona are seeking a replacement, and it’s unclear right now who the favorite is.
Barcelona are chasing Liverpool’s Philippe Coutinho, who can play on the wing. But it’s understood he will play as a midfielder primarily, opening up the need for the signing of a winger or forward.
Diario SPORT first said the chosen one was Atletico Madrid’s Antoine Griezmann but now reports are coming in that his clause stands at 200 million euro. Since Atleti are under a transfer ban, they will not negotiate a departure of their star player. Cross him off the list.
Now SPORT claims the favorite is Borussia Dortmund’s Ousmane Dembele. The winger played mainly on the right for the German club but his two-footedness makes him a good option on the left as well.
Radio MARCA Catalunya, meanwhile have reported that Barcelona are already negotiating for Juventus star Paulo Dybala. Dybala is left-footed and coming off an impressive campaign for the Turin club., meanwhile have
And then we have information from Club de la Mitjanit, a show on Catalunya Radio. They report the favorite to be Neymar’s replacement is AS Monaco’s teenage sensation, Kylian Mbppe.
SPORT also says Mbappe is an attractive option for the Blaugrana. Another name mentioned is Angel Di Maria. Di Maria plays for PSG, is older and would be less expensive, though it remains to be seen if Barcelona would include him in the Neymar deal.

Arda Turan asks Barcelona to wait until January to sell him
The Turkish midfielder is not on Ernesto Valverde’s plans, but Arda doesn’t want to leave now
It’s quite clear at this point that Arda Turan is not part of Barcelona’s plans. With the number of midfielders already in the squad and Arda’s underwhelming performances since joining the club, the feeling among the board is that the former Atlético Madrid man is surplus to requirements at Camp Nou.
Barça have made it clear that Arda is for sale and are content with cutting their losses and selling him for just 20-25 million euros after paying €36 million to sign him back in 2015. The problem is no teams have made offers for Turan, and those who have approached Barça are only interested in signing him on loan, including Galatasaray. But Arda does not want to move to Turkey, and he doesn’t even want to leave Barça right now.
In fact, according to reports in Catalonia, Arda has asked the board to wait until January to sell him, which sounds stupid but actually isn’t for one reason: the main transfer window in the Chinese Super League is the January window, where they search for players in European clubs that are not getting too much playing time and try to sign them on cheaper deals.
Chinese clubs already approached Barça to sign Arda last year, but Luis Enrique didn’t want to sell him believing Turan could still turn his Barça career around. Luis Enrique is gone now, and Arda will definitely not turn his career around. China will most likely come back for him in January, and Arda is not opposed to a move there.
It seems like a waste of time and money to keep Turan around, but it might be worth the wait for a few more months.

Barcelona make improved offer to Liverpool for Philippe Coutinho - Report
According to Catalan radio, Barça have offered even more money to land Neymar’s replacement
According to Catalunya Ràdio, three Barcelona board members (Robert Fernández, Raül Sanllehí, Albert Soler) have made a trip to England to meet with Liverpool directors and presented an improved offer for Reds midfielder Philippe Coutinho.
Barça have already had two bids rejected by Liverpool. The Blaugrana started off with an offer of €70 million + €10 million in performance bonuses, then increased their bid to €100 million. Given they improved the first offer by 20 million euros, we can SPECULATE that the third offer is around €120 million. Again, this is speculation, because there are no reports about the exact figure.
Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp has said that Coutinho is not for sale, which doesn’t exactly mean he can’t be sold. When a really crazy offer comes around, Klopp will have no choice, especially because Coutinho has agreed personal terms with Barça. It seems like €120 million isn’t exactly crazy, but once the Neymar money comes, we could see the end of this saga.
