A change of job for the Brazilian
Juliano Belletti is set to link up with Rafa Marquez once again and will work with the Mexican for his Barcelona Atletic side.
The Brazilian, who famously scored the winner for Barca in the 2006 Champions League final, makes the move after previously working with Juvenil A.
Here’s the club’s official statement:
“Juliano Belletti is to join the Barça Atlètic coaching staff as assistant to Rafa Márquez. The Brazilian, who played for Barça from 2004 to 2007 and scored the winning goal in the Champions League final in Paris in 2006, will be doing a similar job to what he’s already been doing for the last few months with the U19A team.
“He and Rafa Márquez wore blaugrana together as players, and now back together as coaches, where they’ll be working in unison on the development of the Barça stars of the future.
“After he retired from active duty as a player, Belletti was assistant coach from 2021 at Cruzeiro EC in his home country, and from 2022 to the summer of 2023 coached the U10 team at Sao Paulo FC.”
The move means there’s plenty of former players in key roles at Barca right now. Xavi is obviously first team coach, Deco is sporting director, while Marquez remains head coach of Barca Atletic and has been tipped as a potential replacement for Xavi.
