The defender offered his thoughts on Twitter
Barcelona defender Gerard Pique has called journalist Marçal Lorente a ‘puppet’ in response to a statement by the writer regarding the recent events at the club.
Lorente had written on Twitter in response to recent allegations that Barca had paid a firm to discredit current and former players, including Pique.
Here’s what he wrote:
“I have known the environment and idiosyncrasies of Barcelona and the club’s members for many years and fortunately they can’t be as easily manipulated, they are more intelligent and know perfectly how to identify those who want to use the media, political and economic interests to make it at Barça.”

Pique made it clear he wasn’t too impressed with his one-word response: “Puppet.”

Bartomeu reportedly met with Pique and the club’s other three captains on Tuesday to discuss the latest events in a meeting that was described as “tense” and left the players “uneasy” about the situation.
