Report: Barcelona forward Neymar in advanced talks with PSG for summer transfer

Barcelona could be losing one of its biggest stars to Paris Saint-Germain.

According to a report from ESPN Brazil, the French champions are in advanced talks with Barça forward Neymar Jr. for a summer transfer, and are closing in on a personal agreement with the player. If that happens, PSG will move on to club negotiations, and would be ready to pay as much as €190 million to Barça in order to complete the deal.

The report cites a credible source, Neymar's own agent, Wagner Ribeiro, who revealed that he has been negotiating with PSG officials for over four months, dating back to the FIFA Ballon d'Or Gala last January. A report came out last month claiming that Neymar's father met with Real Madrid president Florentino Pérez at that event, but according to Ribeiro, the meeting was actually with representatives from Les Parisiens.

Always according to Ribeiro and the report, PSG have offered the biggest salary in world football to convince Neymar to move to France and be the franchise, the replacement to Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who is set to leave the club this summer. Neymar's salary in Paris would be bigger than anything Barça can offer, and that is the main reason why the player's entourage is very interested in the deal.

Now that the report is out of the way, here's a few things you should know:

1. ESPN Brasil is solid, and the specific reporter is a French journalist with very good sources in Paris.

2. The report is not at all surprising or shocking, since Neymar's agents (including his father) are absolutely crazy about money, and will certainy accept any offer that gets them a big commission.

3. Neymar the player has just signed an extension with Barça, and the club will only agree to sell if PSG (or other club) are able to pay €300 million, which is Neymar's new release clause.

4. Neymar the player has told his father when he was a 13-year-old kid that he wanted to play for Barcelona, and he forced Neymar Sr. to reject an offer for Real Madrid that was better than Barça's when he signed with the Catalans back in 2013. He doesn't want to leave the club, and unlike his entourage, he's interested in football, not money. And the money he gets in his new contract is very close to Lionel Messi's salary. So he's good on that front.

5. Neymar is really not leaving. Period.
