La Liga News: 9 May 2016; Atletico Madrid Out of Title Race, Celta Vigo Secure Europa League Spot

Cristiano Ronaldo scored twice as Champions League finalists Real Madrid defeated Valencia 3-2 to prevent Barcelona from lifting the Primera Division title this weekend.

Cristiano Ronaldo struck his 200th Real Madrid goal at the Santiago Bernabeu against Valencia on Sunday, a feat he reached in just 171 appearances. The club's all-time top scorer hit a double against Los Che to move onto 201 goals at Madrid's home stadium and is now averaging 1.16 goals per game at the Bernabeu.

Levante 2-1 Atletico Madrid - ESPN FC
Giuseppe Rossi scored a last-minute winner as relegated Levante came from behind to end Atletico Madrid's Primera Division title hopes with a 2-1 win. Fernando Torres gave Atletico the lead early on, but Victor's 30th-minute header levelled before Italian forward Rossi fired home from the edge of the box at the death.

Celta Vigo 1-0 Málaga - ESPN FC
Celta Vigo secured their place in next season's Europa League with a 1-0 win over Malaga. Nolito scored the only goal of the game at the Balaidos to move Celta into fifth spot and give them an unassailable lead over seventh-placed Sevilla in the race for European football.

Sevilla FC 1-4 Granada - ESPN FC
Granada sealed their Primera Division status for another season by thrashing Europa League finalists Sevilla 4-1 away from home. Isaac Cuenca put the visitors in charge at the end of the first half against a heavily-rotated Sevilla side, but debutant Diego Gonzalez pulled the home side level in the 74th minute.

Las Palmas 0-0 Athletic Bilbao - ESPN FC
Athletic Bilbao assured themselves of a top-six finish and a place in next season's Europa League, despite drawing 0-0 with Las Palmas. Sevilla's loss to Granada means that Athletic and Celta Vigo, who swapped places on Sunday, will finish fifth and sixth in the final standings ahead of next weekend's final round of fixtures.

Villarreal 0-2 Deportivo La Coruña - ESPN FC
Faycal Fajr and Lucas Perez scored in either half as Deportivo La Coruna secured another season in the Primera Division with a 2-0 win at Villarreal. Deportivo went into Sunday's game four points above the relegation zone and claimed the victory they needed at El Madrigal to retain their top-flight status with a game to spare.

Espanyol want Bielsa? | Football Espana
Marcelo Bielsa has been touted as Espanyol’s preferred option to be Coach next season, ahead of Philippe Montanier, Paco Jemez and Jorge Sampaoli. Constantin Galca is the current occupant of the bench at Cornella-El Prat but AS cites reports from Tiempo de Espanyol that say former Athletic Bilbao and Chile trainer Bielsa has already been in talks with the club.

Real Sociedad 2-1 Rayo Vallecano - ESPN FC
Rayo Vallecano are in real danger of relegation from the Primera Division after losing 2-1 at Real Sociedad. Fellow strugglers Granada beat Sevilla and Getafe and Sporting drew to each move a point ahead of Paco Jemez's side.

Getafe 1-1 Sporting Gijón - ESPN FC
Getafe moved out of the Primera Division's bottom three as they came from behind to draw 1-1 against fellow strugglers Sporting Gijon, who finished with 10 men at Coliseum Alfonso Perez. Sergio Alvarez volleyed Gijon into the lead early in the second half, but midfielder Nacho Cases was then sent off after collecting a second yellow card in the 56th minute.

Eibar 1-1 Real Betis - ESPN FC
Eibar fought back from going behind to draw 1-1 against mid-table rivals Real Betis at Estadio Municipal de Ipurua. The home side had the better of the early exchanges, but it was Betis who took the lead on 37 minutes.
