Barcelona set ridiculous fee, force Chelsea and PSG to give up on Sergio Busquets transfer

Barcelona are so keen on keeping their biggest stars at the club, they'll do anything to keep the other teams away. Even the millionaires.

According to a report from Mundo Deportivo, the Catalan giants have set an astounding €175 million price tag on midfielder Sergio Busquets, perhaps the most important player on the entire team. Barça will never actually sell unless the player makes a request (which he won't), but that would be a fee they could accept if an insane offer comes.

That price is so ridiculous that even Paris Saint-Germain and Chelsea, two of the richest clubs on the planet, have decided to give up on their efforts to sign the 27-year-old, according to the report. The French champions were heavily linked with Sergio already, while the Blues could join the race if incoming manager Antonio Conte asked for the signing.

But neither of the teams, as rich as they are, would be prepared to pay that much for Busquets. They can do it, but the UEFA Financial Fair Play rules, as shady as they are, would not allow the two teams to make the move without serious repercussions. Busquets is 100% certain to stay at Barcelona, and a contract extension is in the works for the best defensive midfielder on Earth.

Worry not, Blaugranes. Busi stays.
