The GOAT will meet his former side again

Inter Miami owner Jorge Mas has made it clear he’s “committed” to ensuring Lionel Messi gets a proper goodbye from Barcelona at some point in the future.

Messi was linked with a Barcelona return in the summer but ended up moving to the MLS side where he’s been an instant hit.

However, Mas says that he promised Messi when he signed that he would do all he could to ensure that he gets his long-awaited reunion with Barca at some point.

“Messi’s departure from Barcelona was not to his liking, he could not say goodbye to his club that welcomed him as a child, and I think the circumstances were not what Lionel wanted,” he told Marca.

“I gave him my commitment that I will do everything possible in the coming years to give him the opportunity to say goodbye to his fans in Barcelona. Inter Miami will go or we will do some kind of match.”

Barcelona president Joan Laporta has also spoken about paying tribute to the GOAT. He has previously hinted that it could come when the club officially reopens the Camp Nou after the renovation work is completed.

‘Coming soon’ - Pedri gives upbeat fitness update

The midfielder is due back this month

Pedri has taken another step closer to making his comeback from injury for Barcelona after joining the first team for training on Monday.

The midfielder was back out on the grass and training with the ball at the Ciutat Esportiva, while his team-mates prepare for Wednesday’s Champions League clash wtih Porto.

Pedri looked to be all smiles during the session as he prepares to make his first appearance for Barcelona since August.

He certainly seems in positive mood. “Coming soon’ - he also wrote on Instagram with a video of him in action today.

It’s still not entirely clear when Pedri will be back. Xavi has said repeatedly recently that he’s not far away but no risks will be taken and it depends on how he’s feeling.

Pedri’s recent injury history means that Barcelona will want to be ultra cautious to avoid seeing the Spain international suffer another recurrence.

The midfielder is expected to be ready to return after the international break, with Barca set to resume against Athletic Club on October 22.

Barcatold why Cancelo is ‘more important’ than Felix

The duo arrived in the summer on loan

Joao Cancelo and Joao Felix have both made an instant impact at Barcelona this season since signing on loan in the summer transfer.

However, Cancelo is far more important to Felix to Xavi’s side, according to former Barca assistant and Spain coach Roberto Moreno.

Here’s what he’s had to say about the two new boys:

“Although it goes against the current, I think Cancelo is more important than Joao Félix despite his goals and assists,” he said.

“What Cancelo is giving is something really uncontrollable for rivals because he doesn’t play as a full-back, he plays whatever he wants.

“I also tell you that it is something that Xavi has to control because both Benítez and Aguirre planned the game for him to counterattack against two defenders, something that did not happen last year because Koundé did not go forward as much. The structure was not good and Busquets was missed.”

There’s no doubt that Cancelo has helped fill what’s been a problem problem for right-back, a move which has also allowed Jules Kounde to return to center-back where he’s shone.

Yet Felix has also enjoyed a good start to life at Barca, scoring three goals and picking up two assists in his first five matches.

It’s all official

Barcelona confirmed on Monday that teenage talent Lamine Yamal has signed a new three-year deal at the club.

The deal is the longest Lamine Yamal can sign right now, as he is only just 16, with reports already claiming plans for a longer-term contract are already in place.

Lamine’s extension also contains a buyout clause set a 1 billion euros - the same as those put in place for Ronald Araujo, Pedri, Gavi, and Ansu Fati.

Here’s the club’s official statement:

“FC Barcelona and Lamine Yamal have reached an agreement on a new contract binding the player to the club until 30 June 2026, with the buyout clause set at one billion euros.”

The news is great for Barcelona as Lamine has been proving this season exactly why there’s so much hype surrounding him.

Barcelona’s latest wonderkid has already broken records for club and country and has impressed in the first team, making eight La Liga appearances.

It had been thought he’d also play for Barca Atletic this season, but it would be no surprise if he spent the whole campaign with Xavi’s side, such has been his impact.

However, he seems to be in positive mood and has vowed to come back stronger than before.

“Well I’d like to come on here to thank everyone for the love and messages that are sending positive energy,” he wrote on Instagram.
