There is some tension between players and staff

Barcelona’s injury problems this season have been a real problem for the Catalan giants and have reportedly created “maximum concern” at the Camp Nou.

Mateu Alemany has already spoken to Xavi about the issue because he is “tired of misdiagnosis, poor recoveries and relapses.” Both men feel the situation needs to be “addressed immediately,” according to Catalunya Radio.

Meanwhile, there also seems to be some disquiet among the players too. The report quotes a source close to the dressing room as suggesting the players are unhappy with the “poor physical preparation” all the way through from pre-season to everyday training.

The report adds there has been “tension” behind the scenes with the players and former boss Ronald Koeman’s staff.

There is certainly increased scrutiny on Barca’s medical services after Ansu Fati, Eric Garcia, and Nico Gonzalez all picked up injuries during the 3-3 draw with Celta Vigo.

The trio join a lengthy injury list that also contains Pedri, Gerard Pique, Sergino Dest, Ousmane Dembele, Sergi Roberto, and Martin Braithwaite.

Earlier this season Pedri suffered a relapse of a thigh injury, while Frenkie de Jong and Gerard Pique reportedly both played with injuries which then saw the players sidelined.

New manager Xavi is already being tipped to make changes to the medical team in a bid to resolve the club’s current injury crisis. The 41-year-old apparently wants Ricard Pruna to return but it’s unclear if that’s a possibility currently.
