Jordi Alba will renew for five more seasons with FC Barcelona in a deal that will become public shortly, according to Diario SPORT. The paper says that if nothing changes at the last minute, an announcement will be made in a few hours.
Josep Maria Bartomeu has reportedly been a key figure in the negotiations, and he’s offered the left-back a deal that would keep him at Barcelona until 2024, giving him the option to retire with his boyhood club. According to SPORT, Alba is very keen on playing out his last days with Barça, and it would be a victory for Bartomeu to retain his services, making this a win-win.
The left-back has been in stellar form this season, notching seven assists in La Liga and three in the UEFA Champions League. His amazing performances have surely made keeping him a priority for Bartomeu.
Alba, who is soon to be 30 years old, would be 35 when the deal runs out.
