The foundations of an agreement have already been laid, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport
Inter Milan’s pursuit of Ivan Rakitić is heating up, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport. The Italian source reports that Inter is “optimistic” about landing him next summer, with the foundations of an agreement with Barcelona already laid.
Inter’s CEO Giuseppe Marotta and Sporting Director Piero Ausilio have met with the Catalan club in secrecy, according to the report. Barcelona reportedly ask for 45 million euro, wth Inter offering 35 million. That would put 40 million as a reasonable compromise. The Croatian is under contract until 2021 and reportedly earns 5.5 million euro net per year. GDS reports that Inter will offer at least a three year contract.
Sky Italia says Rakitić is looking for new experiences, and Inter is one of the most interested in his services. However, they cite a different number, saying Barcelona want 60 million, but that Inter would only offer about half of that. Those would be the starting points from which a possible negotiation could start.
