Valverde taking plenty of positives from Barca’s pre-season tour

The boss has been pleased with performances

Ernesto Valverde says there are plenty of positives for Barcelona to take from their pre-season tour of the United States even if results have not been great.

Barcelona needed penalties to beat Tottenham in their opener and then lost to Roma and AC Milan.

However, Valverde has been pleased with the way the team have played, the club’s new signings and some of their younger players.

“Yes, the performance is better than the results obtained, we lost two games and drew one but I’m leaving with a good feeling,” he said.

”There are lots of positives. Tottenham scored in last minute to draw, the late Roma goals came when the younger players were on, and [vs Milan] dominated, but they get the goal.

”Other positives have been the new signings, Arthur, Lenglet and Malcom, as well as the B team players: Riqui Puig, Miranda, Monchu, Collado. They can help us not just in the future, but in the present.

”It’s also been good to see Rafinha properly, something I’d not been able to do before, and Munir, too.”

Next up for Barcelona is the Super Cup clash with Sevilla and they also have a Joan Gamper Trophy game with Boca Juniors before they open their La Liga campaign against Alaves.
