Barcelona made Champions League history on Wednesday night as two own goals in their 4-1 win over Roma took them to five for the season - a new record in the competition.
Own goal is now Barcelona’s second highest goalscorer in Europe this season, one behind Lionel Messi, and Gerard Pique and Luis Suarez have given their views on why they’ve scored so many.
“We arrived in the area with great combination plays,” said Suarez.
”And though the goals that were then scored were own goals, it was because of our merit to get there in the first place, and put pressure on the defenders.”

Pique also denied suggestions it was purely down to good luck and said Barca’s pressing forces teams into mistakes.
“It’s not just luck that we get own goals in our favour,” he said.
“Things happen for a reason. I think that if these goals go our way it’s because we press high, we push up in attack - the ball is in the opposition area more than usual in other teams’ matches.”

The duo were Barca’s other goalscorers in the 4-1 win that leaves them in a good position to qualify for the semi-finals of the competition.
