Live thread for the World Cup matches played on the tenth day of the 2014 World Cup
This preview is going to be short as the day has only just begun (I wrote this in the morning) and I'm already late...
Some very exciting football was played yesterday, highlighted by a goal-fast between France and Switzerland while Costa Rica shocked the world once again, recording their second win in as many matches, beating Italy 1-0 and securing a place in the next round, eliminating England in the process.
Argentina vs Iran, Kickoff: 6pm CET
After two days of World Cup football without Barcelona involvement, two Barça players will be in the thick of it today, Lionel Messi and Javier Mascherano, with Mascherano expected to earn his 100th international appearance. Argentina should really have little to no problems with this Iran side, but if the 2014 World Cup has taught us anything it is that at no point you can rule out the underdog.
Germany vs Ghana, Kickoff: 9pm CET
With the way Germany demolished Portugal a few days ago they are going to be considered heavy favorites in just about every match and that is very true for this match. Ghana have a solid team, but it's unlikely they will be able to match Germany's talent. This match could offer something never seen before as two brothers, Jérôme and Kevin-Prince Boateng, could play against each other for the second time in a World Cup.
Nigeria vs Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kickoff: 0am CET
The winner of this match is very likely going to be advancing out of the group stage into the knockout round so expect a hard fought game. The Bosnian side is considered heavy favorites, but Nigeria are no pushovers and with their style of football they can be a very difficult team to play against. But Bosnia can't afford to lose as they will be, coupled with an Argentina win, already eliminated.
