The World Cup group stage has come to a close and two players have stood out from the rest in what is proving to be a fantastic tournament. Leo Messi and Neymar Jr. The Barça duo are top of the goalscoring charts with four goals each in the first three matches, a tally only Germany's Thomas Múller has been able to match. Messi is also the only player who was named FIFA Man of the Match in every game.

Barcelona haven’t been put off in their pursuit of Luis Suarez by the Uruguay forward’s four month football ban, according to reports in Spain. Suarez has been suspended for nine international games and four months from all football after biting Italy defender Giorgio Chiellini.

Valencia captain Jeremy Mathieu is at odds with his club as he wants to leave for Barcelona but Los Che don’t want to sell. AS reports that Barca have been told to meet Mathieu’s €20m release clause if they want the defender that much. Mathieu has an agreement with Barca and has had for a number of weeks but only signed his current Valencia deal a year ago.
